
Violinist Claire Cho has earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and continued her Doctoral study in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. Her major teachers included Yong-Ku Ahn, Berl Senofsky, Dr. Hal Abeles and Dr. Dino Anagnost. During her Doctoral study at Columbia University, she was one of the main scholars to lead Dr. Abeles’ various Educational Projects and studied Orchestral Conducting with the late Maestro Dr. Dino Anagnost and worked as his teaching assistant.
She was a faculty member at Columbia University teaching Violin Pedagogy and Orchestra Conducting. She also served as Music Director at Christ Lutheran Church in Bethesda, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gaithersburg, Youth Orchestra Conductor at Global Mission Church in Silver Spring, and Music Director at Baltimore Presbyterian Church.
Performing extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, she gave recitals at Griswold Hall, Leakin Hall in Baltimore, and Horace Mann Hall, Thompson Hall in New York City, recently appeared at Muldoon Concert Series in Virginia. Currently, she actively performs as a violinist of the Washington Chamber Orchestra in Washington DC metropolitan area.
A member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), ASTA (American String Teachers Association), and MSMTA (Maryland State Music Teachers Association), she maintains her violin and viola studio in Gaithersburg, MD. Her students have selected as members of reputable youth orchestras and won numerous regional and national competitions.
